About the NDE Lab
Welcome to the Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) Laboratory at New Mexico State University!
Our commitment goes beyond research in non-destructive evaluation, 3D printing, and computational mechanics. We are equally dedicated to workforce development and community outreach, believing that our work’s true value is realized when it benefits both our students and the broader community.
Our Mission: To conduct meaningful research that contributes to the fields of materials science and engineering while playing a pivotal role in preparing the next generation of professionals. We strive to create opportunities for education and hands-on experience, not only for our students but also for our local community, aiming to inspire and engage future scientists and engineers.
Our Research: Our lab’s work spans across three core domains:
Non-Destructive Evaluation: We use sophisticated techniques to inspect, analyze, and understand materials and structures, paving the way for safer, more reliable engineering solutions.
3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing: We specialize in design for additive manufacturing, optimizing processes and applying innovative design principles.
Computational Mechanics: Through advanced computational models and simulations, we delve into the mechanics of materials and structures, predicting behavior under various conditions.
Our Impact: Beyond our research work, our laboratory is engaged in collaborative projects, educational outreach, and industry partnerships. We aim to inspire and equip the next generation of scientists and engineers, fostering an environment where curiosity meets capability.
